20 Fave The Who Songs
Updated by Hannah Angst on December 20, 2020
I distinctly remember falling in love with The Who. Bored one night, a friend of my parents suggested I watch the copy of The Who Live at the Isle of Wright. From the first wild explosion of noise, the first Pete Townshend windmill, the first glimpse of whatever the hell Keith Moon was doing on those drums, I was hooked. The Who is perhaps the greatest musical gateway drug that a kid can have. They personify rock 'n roll in its truest form — all the energy, all the excess and all the wild, unpredictable talent that make rock stars great. At their peak, The Who was a band of savants, people who played their instruments in a way that would forever change popular music. The raw power and vulnerability of Roger Daltrey’s howl, Pete Townshend’s explosive electric guitar, John Entwistle’s impossibly nimble bass and Keith Moon’s forever copied percussion all worked together to create a catalog that’s undeniably amazing. These are our 20 favorite songs from one of our all-time favorite bands. Artwork for this playlist was created by the amazingly talented Sunny Eckerle.
